| Description | The original letters were dated 13 November 1958 and 26 November 1958. The letters originally accompanied reports on the expedition written at Chepu and Chiloe. Both letters give a brief update on the work being done by the expedition members, and the general progress of the party. In the first letter Dr Holdgate praises the Chilean member of the expedition team, and in both letters tries to give an impression of the land in which they are working.
