TitleSouthern Chile Expedition - scientific correspondence
Date1958
DescriptionThis file was maintained by Dr Martin Holdgate, and he has used it to gather correspondence relating to the scientific rather than organisational aspects of the expedition. Many of the letters were sent on receipt of a letter from Dr Holdgate asking for views on conducting scientific enquiries in Chile, particuarly from European scientists who had undertaken expeditions there before, while others wrote having seen an article by Dr Holdgate in New Scientist.
The letters are arranged alphabetically by correspondent, sometimes an individual or sometimes an institution. They are as follows: Professor V Auer; Professor Jean G Baer; Mr G Bratt [and Mr Peter James]; Professor H Brattstrom; British Museum; Mrs W A M Brooke; Dr G J Butland; Rear-Admiral K St. B. Collins; Mr R A Crowson; Professor C D Darlington; Mr W C Evans; G F Elliott; Mr C Elton (FRS); Mr J Fisher; Dr E B Ford; Cdr C E N Frankcom; Mrs B Gardner; Dr H Godwin; Dr E R Guller; Dr Julian Huxley (FRS); Professor Sir Alister Hardy (FRS); Dr D Lack; Mr H Last; Roger Le Maitre; Dr A.
