TitleLetter and copy of telegram from G E Hemmen, Royal Society to E J H Corner, c/o Department of Agriculture, Jesselton, Malaysia
Date18 March 1964
DescriptionCopy of telegram sent by Hemmen to Corner relating to the statement of expenses, suggests overspend can be offset by underspend on fares. Telegram accompanied by carbon copy of letter originally dated 14 February 1963. Handwritten note from Hemmen advising Corner when it was originally sent. The letter itself offers three suggestions where overspend was accumulated, additional tarpaulins, zoological equipment and insurance and packing costing double the original estimates. Also suggests additional local bills have been run up. Thinks costs can be offset by an anticipated saving of £600 on fares. Adds that insurance for personnel has not been included within his estimates. Includes a final sheet summarising expenditure to the end of January.

Also contains an internal note from Hemmen to Dr Martin [executive secretary at the Royal Society] which updates Martin on the situation with regard the Statement of finances for the expedition.
