TitleLetter from G P Askew, C/O Director of Agriculutre, Jesselton, Malaysia to G E Hemmen, Royal Society
Date29 February 1964
DescriptionAskew writes that it is raining and has been since yesterday morning, and is trying to catch up on his letter writing. Asks if his processed colour films can be sent to on to his wife, as it would be nice for Ruth [Askew] and his children to see some of his scenic photos. Notes that they do not seem to have been in Borneo long, but Smart and Medway have both left the expedition and adds that his soil assistant Michael Chua has left because of ill health. Has set up camp about 6200ft north of basecamp and discusses rocktype of nearby hills, some of which are the same as the 1961 findings. Asks if it would be reasonable to claim some money back for his life assurance. Finishes by saying that despite ups an ddowns the expedition is going well.

Royal Society internal note between G E Hemmen and D C Martin referring to the Askews letter, attached.
