Description | Handwritten draft of a report written by Jerry Stapleford offering his observations and notes on Tristan da Cunha. Stapleford was the Agricultural Officer on Tristan and offered to help the Royal Society by making investigations when they returned to assess if Tristan could be resettled. It is an extensive report featuring geological, botanical, zoological and 'general' observations. The report is accompanied by two letters, the first from Jerry [Stapleford] to Martin [Holdgate] to accompany his report and the second from Holdgate to George [Hemmen], which he wrote when passing the report on to the Royal Society. |
