Description | Notes and correspondence concerning the processing, distribution and permissions to use both still and cine film taken by members of the Tristan da Cunha expedition. The majority of correspondence concerns the processing arrangements made between Royal Society expedition officer, George Hemmen and Kodak. A small number of letters discuss film that was not the property of the Royal Society and did not result from the expedition to Tristan da Cunha, for example the film taken by a naval officer at the very beginning of the volcano's eruption. The file also contains a summary of the film for inclusion in the Royal Society's Soiree programme and a draft transcript of the film's soundtrack. Some of the later letters refer to the donation of the cine film to the National Film Archive. |
