DescriptionCorrespondence between the Royal Society and George Hemmen, expeditions officer, who accompanied the expedtion to the Solomon Islands. The file includes updates from the Society on equipment, personnel and press relating to the expedition, largely sent by Christine Johnson as well as letters from Hemmen to Dr Martin on their progress and actions since beginning the journey to the Solomon Islands. The file also includes a letter written by a local boy about the expedition which Hemmen sent on to the Society. The file also contains telegrams sent between the Society and expedition, and a typed copy of a report from E J H Corner on a visit to Kolombangara.
