DescriptionFiled as Solomon Islands correspondence, the letters relate to work directly connected to the expedition such as grants to cover work on specimens gathered during the expedition and letters about mineral deposits on the Islands to more general updates on the future of that region, such as the separation of Ellice Islands to become Tuvalu. The earlier letters in the file, include letters of thanks from returned expedition members, but also includes letters [mostly from marine party and Stephen Wainwright in particular offering their opinions on the organisation and leadership of the boat charter. There is also a letter, accompanied by two papers from J C Grover, who was director of the Geological Survey of the Solomon Islands for 17 years. His two papers are on general earth science investigations in the regions, and mineral searches on the Solomon Islands.
