TitleCentral Brazil Expedition - confidential reports
Date4 September [1967] - 28 February 1969
DescriptionThe file includes reports, correspondence and internal notes from the field at from Royal Society staff in London, particuarly George Hemmen. The earlier items show that returning expedition members were worried about the progress of the expedition, and conditions at base camp, as well as expressing concerns about the leadership of Iain Bishop. Later letters tend to focus on the financial position of the expedition, and Bishop raises concerns over the behaviour of one of the expedition members. The files contains two longer reports from G P Askew and E J Corner, who had both taken part in earlier Royal Society Expeditions. Askew's report from December 1967 focused on conditions at the Base Camp, while Corner's report from Febraury 1968 had a wider scope.
The majority of papers in the file are marked as confidential and unlike other correspondence and reports have been excluded from document referencing.
