DescriptionDraft letter by Sir Colonel John Herschel addressed to:
'My dear Sir' stating the intention to possibly publish the correspondence of his father and thereby to 'collect of my father correspondence - not so much with any direct view to publication as to provide against the too probable loss or destruction which take place with time; as well as to guard against any more fragmentary collection'. The letter requests sending letters to and from J F HW and describes that the family will take charge of transcribing the letters themselves and will return promptly any letters sent.
