Title | Letter from Mary Cornwallis Herschel, to [John Herschel] |
Creator | Herschel; Mary Cornwallis [formerly Power; née Lipscombe] (1829-1876) |
Date | 29 December [1871] |
Description | The 'Bombay King' was waiting for instructions and she notes difficulties with mail. She has received another letter from 'that wretched man ERP' [Edward Power] and she notes the remarkable proceeding of Mr Cocker in using her former name in trusteeship matters. Mary asks if John will send back Alick's letter [Alexander Stewart Herschel] and wonders if they write in a discontented tone, as John's mother points out the duty of cheerfulness under trial. |
