William describes Alexandria and Cairo briefly, before leaving Suez on the steamer 'Oriental', landing at Aden, and Point de Galle, Ceylon [Sri Lanka]. Being unable to land at Madras, owing to surf, the journey concludes at Calcutta [Kolkata].
