CreatorSee; Thomas Jefferson Jackson (1866-1962); American astronomer
Date24 July 1912
DescriptionHe received Dreyer's introduction to William Herschel's works a short time ago, and the two large volumes. He feels that Sir William ought to be congratulated. The portraits of William and Caroline Herschel are satisfactory and he is pleased that Caroline was included in the papers. He compliments Dreyer's introduction and the good fortune to have so much original material. He thinks that Herschel was the greatest of all modern astronomers and he is glad to have initiated the publication. He has sent Sir William a memoir and a paper on the Milky Way.
