CreatorHuggins; Sir William (1824-1910); British astronomer
Date20 January 1910
DescriptionA joint committee of the Royal Society and Royal Astronomical Society will conside the republication of Sir William Herschel's papers. This will involve a large expense, since papers volumes do not sell. Canbridge [University] Press lost so much money on [George Gabriel] Stokes' papers that they would not print Kelvin's without a large subsidy from Lady Kelvin.

With a pasted-on typed note: 'Interesting souvenir. Photograph of a postcard sent in response to Professor See's personal appeal to Sir Wm. Huggins...'
