DescriptionHalf-length seated portrait of James Mounsey in an interior setting, with a bookcase holding leather-bound volumes and collections of loose papers shown behind his right shoulder. A terrestrial globe can be seen behind his left arm, with a curtain draping down on top of it. Mounsey holds an open volume of ‘The Art’ by Hippocrates printed in both Latin and Greek and points at a section with his right index finger.
