AdminHistoryCollected photographs by Walter Bird (1903 - 1969) for the National Portrait Gallery. Bird was chief photographer and owner (from 1961) of J. Russell & Sons until Godfrey Argent purchased the firm in 1967. Following the death of Walter Stoneman (1876 - 1958), Bird took over the management of the National Photographic Record which supplied the NPG with mounted photographic prints of eminent people.
