TitleCorrespondence between Dr Alfred Spinks FRS and Sir John Vane
Date3 February 1956 - 8 April 1982
DescriptionSir John Vane met Dr Alfred Spinks at Oxford when training with Harold Burn. The correspondence series begins when Dr Spinks worked at Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd and the correspondence relates to findings in his research, sharing compounds with Vane and the submission of a paper by Vane and Marley which was strongly critiqued by a referee (1957-1958). The correspondence continues along similar lines and the two correspondents discuss their own papers, acting as referees for other papers being submitted for review and recieving compounds from ICI until Dr Spink's death in 1982. The series includes two letters from Dr Spinks' wife Pat, and a letter with reply from Professor Alan Johnson who was responsible for producing a biographical memoir for Dr Spinks.
