TitleCorrespondence between Dr Lewis H. Sarett and Sir John Vane
Date27 October 1967 - 2 August 1977
DescriptionDr Sarett was Vice President and later President for research of Merck Sharp & Dohme, a pharmaceuticals company, during the period of this correspondence. The majority of the letters concern arrangements for meeting up, professionally but also personally, including an invitation from Dr Sarett to his wife's surprise birthday party in London (1972) and an invitation for the Saretts to visit the Vanes' new house (1975). There is also correspondence relating to children from both of the families travelling in the US and Europe. The more formal correspondence concerns grants from Merck & Co. to the Royal College of Surgeons, before Vane took up a position at the Wellcome research labs (1973) and Vane's request for information on the teritiary structure of dihydrofolate reductase and reply on the same subject from Dr Sarett (1977)
