DescriptionCommencing 'Binis a te, vir celebervivne mihi scriptis literis, unis Aprili, aberis Octobri mense Londino missis meteorologica negotia continentinbus, his simul et brevi respondebo...' [I have received two letter written by you, celebrated man, one in April, and the other in October, having sent meteorological affairs from London to the Continent. I will answer briefly and at once...]. Among other matters, the letter notes the presentation of a Hauksbee style thermometer: '...nec tantus ego sum, qui tanto cumulari honore dignus sim, cuique pro munifcentie complemento Hauksbeian thermometrum, Societatis sussu paratu ades curiose Londino Neapolitim usque transmitteretur...'

The tables of meteorological observations record the dates of readings [by Gregorian and Julian calendars], general weather observations, wind direction and speed, and rainfall; with a final column noting the activity of the volcano Vesuvius. The observations commence on 1 January 1725 and end on 11 January 1726 [21 December 1724 and end on 31 December 1725]. Headed: 'Diarium Meteorologicum Neapolitanum Anni MDCCXXV'. The manuscript concludes with monthly rainfall summaries, 1717-1724.
