DescriptionTable of twice daily meteorological observations, taken at 9.a.m. and 3p.m., at the Birmingham Philosphical Institution during July 1844. The daily readings record barometrical pressure, temperatures from an attached thermometer, dew point [at 9.a.m. only], wet and dry bulb thermometers, external thermometers [Fahrenheit and self-registering], rainfall in inches, evaporation in inches and wind direction [at 9a.m. only]. With general remarks.

The table is headed: 'Meteorological Journal for July 1844. Kept at the Birmingham Philosophical Institution, by William Ick, Ph.D., F.G.S., Curator.'. Cutting from an unrecorded, but presumably Midlands, newspaper. With advertisements verso, including prices of coals and lime from George Stephenson and Company, Clay Cross Colliery, Derbyshire.
