Highest and lowest thermometer readings are also recorded, with general weather remarks. The latter includes a note on the frozen-over river Thames in January. With several associated memoranda below the main table.

Title page [p.1] headed: 'An abstract of a regular Diary or Journal of the weather kept during the whole of the year 1789 at Chavenage in the County of Glocester'. Signed by Robert Nicholl [later Carne]. Stamped 'Soc. Reg. Lond. ex dono Auctoris' and inscribed with the date 4 March 1790. Inscribed [p.2]: 'Meteorological observations made at Chavenage in the county of Glocester by the Revd. Robt. Nicholl A.M.'.
