DescriptionDaily meteorological observations made on board the vessel Jaseur, on various voyages, commencing with the Azores to Halifax, Nova Scotia. With columns for: the date; latitude north; longitude west; hours of observation (variable, usually 8.00am, 12.00 noon. 8.00pm amd 12.00 midnight); time of day; winds; true course; distance run; variation of the needle by azimuth; current set and velocity; weather; barometer readimgs in inches and parts; and general remarks.

The voyage begins with a sighting of the island of Flores [p.2] en route to Halifax, Nova Scotia. From Halifax, the vessel proceeds to Grassy Bay, Bermuda, before returning to Halifax, anchoring in Halifax Harbour. A second cruise to Bermuda on 10 December 1821, and from there to Barbadoes in the Leeward Islands and back. From Bermuda the ship travels to St Thomas, Virgin Islands and back to Grassy Bay. Thence to Halifax and to St John's Harbour, Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick. Another return to Halifax and back. The ship spends some time in Halifax Dockyard, before returning to England in 1823, the record ending at Plymouth Sound and Hamoaze. There is a final entry [p.81]: 'paid off and signed 'Henry E. Napier, Commander'.

Inscribed on the inner front board: 'Presented to the Royal Society by Captn. Henry E. Napier Royal Navy. - 13 Lower Cadogan Place London [deleted] The Lawn Hemel Hempstead - Herts'. Also inscribed: 'New Catalogue 100'. Stamped [p.1]: 'Soc. Reg. Lond.'.
