DescriptionTidal measurements recorded at Wapping, Middlesex. Columns for day and date of observation, heights of morning and evening tides, times of morning and evening high water, Moon's age, wind direction, with general remarks.

Notes [pp.37-38] give brief information on ships, boats and barges with cargoes coming into London Docks on the tides of 31 January-1 February and 6-9 February 1805. There is a note, signed by William Peirce on the rear inner board, commencing: 'The annexed porter acct. to be paid to Ware & by him to be divided...'

The method of gathering this data is noted In the paper 'On the tides of the Port of London', by John William Lubbock, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, v.121 (1831) pp.379-415. 'at the entrance to the London Docks; the time of high water, or the time when the water has just made its mark, is there noted on a slate by the watchman on the pier-head, generally only to the nearest five minutes; this is afterwards copied in a book kept for the purpose by Mr. Peirse'.
