DescriptionTidal measurements recorded at Wapping, Middlesex. Columns for day and date of observation, low water mark, high water mark (both in feet and inches), time of low water, time of high water (both hours and minutes), Moon's age, wind direction, with general weather remarks.

A pasted-in note [p.107] gives details of low water on 6 March 1822, tidal flow and its impact on readings taken at the sill level.

The method of gathering this data is noted In the paper 'On the tides of the Port of London', by John William Lubbock, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, v.121 (1831) pp.379-415. 'at the entrance to the London Docks; the time of high water, or the time when the water has just made its mark, is there noted on a slate by the watchman on the pier-head, generally only to the nearest five minutes; this is afterwards copied in a book kept for the purpose by Mr. Peirse'.
