DescriptionDaily meteorological records, with records of tides, kept at the Prince's Dock, Liverpool, by successive dock masters. Columns for: date, tides [M and E, presumably morning and evening], hours, height of tide in feet and inches, wind direction, barometer, thermometer and general weather remarks.

Entries for 1 July-31 August 1827 are signed by Charles Purnell [pp.1-4]; entries for 1 September 1827-31 November 1830 are signed by James Hind [pp.5-80]; entries for 1 December 1831-31 August 1835 are signed by Thomas Hodgson [pp.105-192]. Only the recto pages contain data; there are occasional aide-memoires or names and addresses on the verso pages, for example [p.82] 'Jessie Hartley Esqr. Trentham Street'.

Each sheet is headed: 'Meteorological Register for the Port of Liverpool.'. Inscribed in pencil [p.1]: 'Prince's Dock'.
