DescriptionDaily meteorological observations made at Belagavi, Karnataka State, at the hospital of the 64th Regiment. Readings taken at 9.30am and 3.30pm. Columns for: Moon's age, day of the week [not completed] and day of the month; barometer; hygrometer, wind and cloud; dry and wet bulb self-registering thermometers; rainfall and wind; concluding with columns for prevalent diseases, natural history [not completed] and general weather remarks. With maximums, minimums and means.

Each sheet is headed 'No. 1 Meteorological Observatory at Belgaum...'. Inscribed 'Observations made by William McDonaugh...Lance Corpl. HM's 64 Regt...'. Variously signed and endorsed including by the Regimental Assistant Surgeon, R.T. Buckle, and by the Superintending Surgeon T [?] Mackenzie. Inscribed verso with similar details and the dates of completion on the first of the following month. Typed paper label [p.24]: 'Belgaum. Hourly met obs, one day in every month. 1858.'.
