DescriptionNotebooks kept by Louis Bernacchi, recording electrometer observations, and aurorae. Generally at Winter Quarters, McMurdo Soucd, Antarctica, and on board or near SS Discovery. With associated material, including the text for the published expedition account of aurorae.

Made as part of the scientific efforts of the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904, also know as the Discovery Expedition, led by Robert Falcon Scott. This was managed by a joint committee of the Royal Society and the Royal Geographical Society and had the remit to carry out research and geographic exploration. Louis Bernacchi (1876-1942) was the expedition physicist; and the only scientist with previous Antarctic experience, having been attached to the British National Antarctic Expedition 1898-1900.
