Description | Hourly measurements of atmospheric electricity made at Flagstaff Hill Observatory, Melbourne, Victoria. Arranged by day, with columns for mean time, observation I-III mean of north and south, 1/2 (I+III) =A, 1/2 (II+A)=M, I-III=△, M+△ = true tension, quality, state of zenith, ozone, and general remarks. These observations are interrupted, including [11 September 1862] 'Electrometer out of order'; and [22 September 1862] 'Observations interrupted through the transfer of all meteorological instruments into the new Observatory'. Thereafter, observations are limited in number, and confined to morning and afternoon.
Inscribed on front end paper: 'Presented to the Library of the Royal Society London'. The flyleaf is inscribed 'Melbourne Observations' and signed by G B von Neumayer.
