Description | Daily meteorological records, made hourly, each sheet commencing at midnight and ending at 11.00pm. With columns for: mean time of observations; pressure of air; wet and dry thermometer in shade; pressure of vapour; relative humidity; dew point instrument; ground thermometers; solar and terrestrial radiation; wind direction and force; hours of fog, rain, snow, hail and dew; cloud form and direction and amount; amount of rain; spontaneous evaporation; and general remarks. There are selective totals of mean, maximum, minimum and maximum difference. With a final column for observers' initials.
Inscribed: 'Presented to the Library of the Royal Society London' on the front end paper. Front flyleaf is inscribed 'Melbourne Observatory' and signed by G.B. von Neumayer. Each sheet is headed 'Daily Meteorological Register' and also usually signed by Neumayer. Some entries are credited 'for Prof. Neumayer J. Bauer' or 'for Prof Neumayer C. Moerlin'.
