DescriptionTables of monthly meteorological observations made at the Colonial Hospital, Georgetown, Demerara [then British Guyana, now the Republic of Guyana]. Sheets for January-February [pp.1-4] have observations made at 8.00am, 2.00pm and 8.00pm each day; during March-June [pp.5-12], there are four sets of readings, taken at 3.00am, 9.00am, 3.00pm and 9.00pm. The headings note that Mason's hygrometer was in use; columns are for the the date and lunar cycle, sympiesometer, wet and dry bulb thermometer, dew point, moisture in atmosphere, short of saturation, degree of humidity, thermometer and electrometer and wind.

The final sheet [pp.13-14] is for hourly meteorological observations, commencing at 6.00am on 21 June and ending at 6.00am on 22 June 1843 [June solstice]. These include alternative columns for a pluviometer and evaporometer, with wind direction and strength, and clouds. With a separate table of quarter hour observations of the thermometer for the same period.

Sheets have headings commencing [pp.1-12]: 'Meteorological Phenomena observed at Colonial Hospital, Georgetown, Demerara...' Each is signed, 'Daniel Blair...Colonial Surgeon'. Typed paper label [p.2]: 'Georgetown, British Guiana'. Inscribed [p.14]: '1843. British Guiana Desp. No.118 date Augt. 3d. Meteorological Tables for six months ending 30th June'. Stamped: 'Received C.O. [Colonial Office] Sep. 5 1843'.
