Columns record: time of observation, barometer, attached thermometer, ship's position by latitude and longitude, wind direction and strength, weather and general remarks.
A note below the title states that: 'The Barometer was constructed by Mr. Cox of Devonport, and compared with his Standard before bringing it on board, where it was placed in the Cabin Skylight with the cistern about two feet above the water line...'. A further note identifies the hygrometer as a Mason's instrument.
