| Description | Daily meteorological observations, usually of six per day, noting barometric pressure, temperature in two locations, wind force and direction. No location is given for the vessel, and there are no entries in columns for latitude and longitude, current force and direction, and compass variations, suggesting that the ship remained at anchor during this period, at the last position given in MA/97/1. The manuscript contains no additional remarks.
The later manuscript in the series [MA/97/4] gives the fixed location as Victoria Settlement, Port Essington, now in the Northern Territory of Australia. The settlement was established by Sir John James Gordon Bremer in 1838, during this visit.
