Description | Regarding Lester's recent invention of mirrored lamps, for which he received 'His Majesty's Royal Letters Patent'. Lester applies for a premium of £1,000 set aside by Count Rumford for discoveries of this kind. Lester claims inspiration for this discovery from having been active on the West India Docks. The letter includes a copy of a certifying letter by William Huntress, a cotton mill owner in Yorkshire, on the use of these lamps, dated 2 January 1819. |
