Description'Dear Sir, I laid your letter of the 1st ult., before my Council at their meeting yesterday, and am directed to inform you that Mr.W.E.Smith, C.B., of the Admiralty, Whitehall, has been elected to represent the Institution on the General Board of the National Physical Laboratory in succession to Dr.Elgar, who retires by rotations.
