DescriptionInforms he is sending the application for the Sorby Fellowship and that he and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Macdonald have made certain enquiries of the different Professors in whose departments the different applicants would want to work. Enquires what is to be done as to the capacity of applicants & refernce to referees, stating either the Royal Society can write to each one or, more preferably, each member of the committee should be asked to form an opinion on those applying in his subject. In the latter case, he and Macdonald would answer respectively for Pathology & Physics; Parsons for Engineering; Darwin for the two Biologists; Tilden & the President for Chemistry.
