Title | Letter from S [Samuel] Hunter Christie, The Common, Woolwich, to Francis Higginson |
Date | 10 March 1854 |
Description | Responding to specific points in Higginson's original letter, dated 24 February, although Christie was inclined not to reply at all due to his tone and language. Christie references Higginson's article in the Mechanic Magazine and elaborates on the difference between a memoir being sent to the President, Council, secretaries, or a Fellow and a memoir being communicated to the Society. Christie confirms that Higginson's paper [on the causes of attraction] was sent to [John George] Children but evidently not communicated to the Society. Furthermore, Christie cannot comply with Higginson's request for the meteoric stone specimens accompanying his paper to be returned, and pre-emptively declines further correspondence. |
