Title | Letter from William Lawrence Bragg to Alfred Egerton, 3 West Road, Cambridge |
Creator | Bragg; Sir; William Henry (1862-1942); British physicist |
Recipient | Egerton; Sir; Alfred Charles Glyn (1886-1959); British chemist |
Date | 29 June 1939 |
Description | Just returned from holiday. All correspondence in laboratory, which is shut, so will recall from memory. Says Pye asks for two of their men, [Wilfred Bennett] Lewis and [Jack] Radcliffe, for appointment at Bawdsey [Research Station] for two years. General Board of Faculties has arranged one year leave, as longer period is harder to arrange. Thinks they can take it that Cambridge University will warmly support the seconding of certain members of their staff and senior research men. They go without pay, their jobs or research grants would be held open for them. Appleton has been in close touch with the arrangements for seconding Lewis and Radcliffe and Egerton might speak with him. |
