| Description | The [Royal Society] office is now practically housed at Trinity College. The more valuable pictures are safely house in Monmouthshire and Davies thinks they ought to move the rare books [c46,000] from the library perhaps to Wales. He asks for Lyons' view. As there is no Society's library there is nothing for Miss Carruthers or Mr Robinson to do in Cambridge. Therefore they have undertaken to proceed with the Newton correspondence. The two may work in Aberystwyth and Robinson could supervise and assist Dr Lewis on calendaring the Boyle manuscripts. Professor Hill agrees with this suggestion. Davies will consult with Sir Albert Seward and Professor [Alfred Charles Glyn] Egerton on the matter in Cambridge. Male members of staff have volunteered as Special Constables working four hours duty a day. |
