Description | In accordance with Foster's suggestion that he should write in May about a grant, he does so and asks that Foster extend his influence on Copeman's behalf. The work is on the bacteriology of the vaccine lymph, which has occupied him for some considerable time. He read a paper to the Epidemiological Society last month which embodied his results to date. Foster may have seen the abstract in the medical papers. His difficulty has been in not being able to pay for the loan of calves for testing and although he has done this to a small extent, courtesy of the Animal Vaccine Establishment, he has been handicapped. He would appreciate a grant from the private donation fund.
Dr. S. Monckton Copeman was awarded a grant of £30 from the Royal Society's Donation Fund in May 1892, 'in aid of his researches on the bacteriology of the vaccine lymph'. |
