Description | At a meeting of the joint committee of the Royal Society and the British Association for the Advancement of Science for investigating the fauna of the Sandwich Islands, it was considered desirable that Mr. Perkins sould return there to collect specimens, in view of the rapidly disappearing fauna. He asks for £100 from the Donation Fund, which added to the balance in the committee's hands, would enable Mr. Perkins to stay on the islands during the most favourable season and return him home. Sharp is also instructed to apply for £200 from the Government Grant Fund should this not be successful. Perkins' experience renders his service of value in remaining.
David Sharp, as Secretary of the Committee for Investigating the Fauna of the Sandwich Islands, was awarded a grant of £100 from the Royal Society's Donation Fund in January 1895, 'to enable the Sandwich Islands Committee to send out their collector, Mr. Perkins, without delay'. |
