| Description | Having laid before my Lords Commisissioners of the Admiralty a Memorial of the 21st instant, from the President, Council, and Fellows of the Royal Society of London for improving Natural Knowledge, representing that they intend to send out to St Helena and Bencoolen [Bengkulu, Sumatra, Indonesia], proper persons to make exact Observations of the Transit of Venus over the Sun, on the 6th of June next, in those Parts, and desiring that one of His Majesty's Ships may be ordered to carry those Persons to the said Places, I am to acquaint you that their Lordhips have ordered a Ship to be fitted for the said Purpose. |
