| Description | The letter acknowledges those from Morton dated the 17th and 21st of January, and discusses the possible re-routing of the voyage of HMS 'Seahorse' to observe the Transit of Venus in 1761.
The letter states Mason and Dixon's belief that it is "...impossible for us to reach any part by way of the Cape proper for making the Observation that will have East Longitude sufficient to be of any use to compare with those made at Greenwich and St Helena. We find no place on the Globe which we can reach to be of as great consequence as one made at Scanderoon". |
