Title | Letter from Ian Dunn; Lake Katwe, Uganda; to Peter Greenwood; Cromwell Road, London |
Creator | Dunn; Ian George (1934 - ); biologist |
Date | 5 December 1967 |
Description | Agrees with Greenwood about the preserved '"disgusting little bottles"' but also doesn't want to miss out of field work. Says that he has revieved a message from John Lund that the committee want him to focus on fresh material and states he sees no alternative other than to pickle almost immediately. Says that the committee's suggested timeline of April-December should be sufficient for the work he intends to do.
Updates about his research. The taxonomy of Lake George Haplochromis. He has been looking at catches from Lake Edward close to the Kazinga Channel and thinks that there are a lot of H. pappenheimi. Suspects it is a pelagic shoaler judging from appearance and quantity. Has caught as yet unidentified species that he suspects is in the brassy, parabrassy, macrops line. Asks if he should wait to make a comphrehensive collection from Lake George.
Agrees that another worker should be found for work on Tilapia whilst he continues work on Haplochromis. |
