| Description | Discussion on adjustments to the deflecting magnet. Lloyd discusses choosing a place of the tube holder, due to the arrangement the distance of the magnet could be varied within certain limits. A slit along the tube through which the line round the middle of the magnet may be seen to coincide with the line of the graduation on the tube. Lloyd explained to [Henry] Barrow how the distance of the graduation from the centre was to be obtained by the artist. Lloyd remarks that the instrument is too late for Sir [John] Richardson but hopes it will be complete by the time [James Clark] Ross leaves so that he can examine it and take it with him if he desires.
Lloyd informs Sabine that he cannot help [John Henry] Lefroy until he has gotten the coefficient of his own induction inclinometer. |
