| Date | 1857 |
| Description | Sabine expresses his anxiousness at [Henry] Barrow’s delay in fitting the dip circle with Lloyd’s apparatus. Includes a note regarding determination of the force, the dip and the declination made by [John Henry] Lefroy.
Discussion on the statical needle and change to the magnetical position. Sabine discusses Lieutenant [Thomas] Blakiston will leave soon to conduct magnetical observations at York Fort in Hudson’s Bay [reference to the Palliser expedition also known as the British North American exploring expedition led by John Palliser]. Similarly [John] Welsh will also leave to conduct magnetical work. Sabine hopes Blakiston will be able to work with a unifilar and be able to determine the total force at York Fort. |
