TitleLetter from Edward Sabine, Dunraven Castle to Humphrey Lloyd, Trinity College, Dublin
Date9 October 1837
DescriptionSabine is glad to hear that Lloyd has resolved the problems he was having with some of his results. Informs Lloyd of the places at which [James Clark] Ross has recently observed in England. Sabine further lists the stations at which he himself has lately observed in England and the problems he encountered at Birkenhead. Includes for Lloyd comparison of two Gambey needles at different places.

A new map of Ireland, by Arrowsmith, is about to be published and Lloyd should contact [Francis] Beaufort for a copy. It misplaces Ireland by three miles relative to England.

Sabine is at this time putting together his work on the results of intensity observations from a number of magnetic observers on the continent and informs Lloyd of its progress to date.
