Title | Letter from Humphrey Lloyd, Trinity College, Dublin to Charles James Buchanan Riddell |
Date | 6 December 1842 |
Description | Lloyd returns forms used for recording observations, with his remarks in pencil [not enclosed]. The abstracts of the hourly observations are across two pages, Lloyd suggests inserting the column for date on both pages. That way one form may be used for both hourly and two hourly observations.
Discussion on the observation of the inclinometer on terms days, Lloyd’s practice regarding this has been to omit it, as he has re-established the vertical force. Lloyd agrees with Riddell’s arrangement for recording observations with two observers.
Lloyd never sends more than one microscope of balance magnetometer.
Lloyd would prefer the nine-inch bars for the absolute intensity, as this will in his opinion give the best results. For the bifilar Lloyd would prefer the twelve-inch bars. |
