Description | Autographed letter addressed to Young at the Montebello Hotel in Paris. Sends the two volumes of his "Recherches sur les monumens des peuples barbares" [ likely Vues des cordillères, et monumens des peuples indigènes de l'Amérique, 1810]. Asks for Young's opinion in particular of the zodia signs, calculations, numbers chronology and the Mexican calendar as a testimony of his admiration for Young's work and as a show that the study of hieroglyphs is promising. Followed by a list of notable names and addresses in Paris in von Humboldt's hand [Marquis [Etienne] de Drée; [Edmé-Francois ] Jomard; [Jean-Francois] Debure; [Ennio Quirino] Visconti; [Vivant] Denon; Sylvestre de Sacy]
