TitleLetter from William Hyde Wollaston to Thomas Young
Datend
DescriptionAutographed note with no address but remnants of seal.

Disputes priority of the verification of the Huygenian law in optics and the fact that Young is attempting to respond to [Pierre Simeon] Laplace anonymously. Only a publication signed in full by Thomas Young will be an effective response.

Notes in postscriptum that it is possible that [Etienne-Louis] Malus may have improved upon Wollaston's experiments, which may have given Laplace more accurate results but may have made an error in the angle of the crystal.

Note in unknown hand on third page "Laplace on Iceland crystal".
