Title | Letter from William Radcliffe Birt, Kew Observatory to Edward Sabine |
Date | 9 March 1850 |
Description | Birt clarifies that he did not express his inability to undertake magnetical observations as instructed by Sabine. Birt did not say that these observations would interfere with the electrical observations and is unsure why Captain [Charles] Younghusband gave Sabine this impression. The original comment Birt made to Younghusband concerned Mr [Francis] Ronalds fear that the magnetical observations would interfere with the electrical. Birt describes taking observations with the magnetometer and relaying his work to Younghusband. According to Birt there would be no interference with the electrical observations. |
